How The Pair Project Works

A more personal way to meet someone

Dating apps work for some people, but for many, the endless swiping, messaging and trying to work out who is genuinely looking for a relationship has become exhausting.

The Pair Project offers a different way to meet someone.

We are a private matchmaking service for people who are genuinely ready to find a meaningful relationship. There are no profiles to scroll through, no swiping and no need to spend your evenings talking to strangers online.

Instead, we get to know you properly, understand the sort of person you would like to meet and then do the searching for you.

It starts with a conversation

The first step is a complimentary consultation with Emma, founder of The Pair Project.

This is simply an opportunity to have a chat, tell us a little about yourself and find out more about how the service works. We’ll talk about your life, your previous experiences of dating and relationships, what is important to you and the sort of person you would genuinely like to meet.

It also gives us both the opportunity to decide whether The Pair Project feels like the right fit.

There is no pressure or obligation to join following your consultation.

Getting to know you

If you decide to become a member, we take the time to get to know you properly.

Good matchmaking is about far more than matching two people because they're a similar age and happen to live near one another.

We want to understand your personality, lifestyle, interests, values, family life and what you would like your future to look like.

We'll also talk about the qualities you're looking for in a partner – including the things that really matter to you, any genuine deal-breakers and the areas where you might be a little more open-minded.

We'll create a personal profile that reflects who you really are and arrange professional photographs so that when we find someone we think you should meet, we're presenting you at your best.

Then we start looking

This is where the matchmaking really begins.

We don't simply search through a database and choose the closest available person.

We look within The Pair Project's existing network, but we also actively search beyond it.

This can involve targeted advertising, referrals, networking and personally approaching people who we think could potentially be a good match for you.

It means your search isn't limited to people who happen to already be members of The Pair Project.

Before an introduction progresses, we speak personally with the potential match. We want to know more about them, what they're looking for and whether we genuinely feel that the two of you could be worth introducing.

When we think we've found someone...

We'll tell you about them.

You'll receive a personal profile giving you a proper feel for who they are – their personality, lifestyle, interests, background and what they're looking for in a relationship.

They'll also have the opportunity to learn about you.

There is never any obligation to meet someone simply because we suggest them. Both people need to be interested before an introduction goes ahead.

If you both say yes, we'll take care of arranging the date for you. Your personal contact details aren't exchanged beforehand – we'll agree a time and venue with you both and make all the arrangements, so all you need to do is turn up and enjoy meeting each other.

After the date, we'll speak to you both separately. If you've both enjoyed meeting and would like to see each other again, we'll then put you in touch so you can take things from there.

What counts as one of your four introductions?

We keep this very simple.

It only counts once you've actually met.

Receiving someone's profile doesn't count.

Saying you'd like to meet them doesn't count.

Exchanging contact details doesn't count.

Even arranging a date doesn't count if, for whatever reason, you don't actually meet.

An introduction only counts as one of the four included within your membership once the two of you have met in person for your date.

After your date

We'll check in with you afterwards to see how you got on.

Sometimes there is an immediate spark. Sometimes there isn't. And sometimes a connection deserves a little more time to see where it might go.

If you'd both like to see each other again, that's lovely.

If you'd like some time to explore the connection without us continuing to look for somebody else, we can pause your matchmaking while you do that.

If it wasn't the right match, we'll talk about why. That feedback helps us understand you better and can be really useful when considering your next introduction.

What's included in your membership?

Your private matchmaking membership includes:

  • Four in-person introductions
  • Personal matchmaking and active headhunting
  • A professionally written personal profile
  • Professional photography
  • A coaching session
  • Support and feedback throughout your membership
  • The option to pause your membership while exploring a promising connection

Full details of the membership fee and payment options will be explained during your complimentary consultation.

You'll then have all the information you need to decide whether you would like to join, with no obligation or pressure to do so.

How long will it take?

There isn't an honest answer we can give you to this.

You might meet someone wonderful very quickly. It may take longer.

We don't promise to find you a new match every month because we don't believe in introducing people simply for the sake of making an introduction.

We would rather take our time and introduce you to somebody we genuinely think is worth meeting.

Your membership is therefore focused on the introductions themselves rather than a fixed number of months.

And if one of those introductions turns into the relationship you were hoping for before we've reached number four, we'd consider that a very successful outcome.

Your safety matters

We personally speak to the people we introduce and take safeguarding seriously.

Everyone we work with is expected to be honest with us, to treat others respectfully and to tell us about anything that could reasonably be relevant to another person's safety or their decision about whether to meet.

The Pair Project is a matchmaking service rather than a criminal-record checking or private investigation service, so we cannot guarantee another person's history, intentions or future behaviour.

We therefore encourage everyone to continue to use their own judgment and take sensible precautions when meeting someone new.

Further information about how we operate can be found in our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
