These Terms & Conditions explain the basis on which The Pair Project provides information about its matchmaking services and how our website and services operate.
Clients who choose to purchase a matchmaking membership will also be asked to enter into a separate Membership Agreement setting out the specific terms of their membership.
1. About The Pair Project
The Pair Project provides a private, personalised matchmaking and introduction service for individuals who are looking for meaningful relationships.
Our service is based on personal matchmaking rather than online dating or self-selection through a dating app.
Prospective clients are offered a personal consultation before joining. Consultations may take place in person or virtually.
Potential matches are also personally spoken to by The Pair Project before an introduction is progressed.
2. How Our Matchmaking Service Works
We take time to understand each Client's circumstances, lifestyle, personality, values, interests and relationship preferences.
Potential matches may be identified from within The Pair Project's existing network or through personalised headhunting and recruitment activity.
This may include advertising, professional networking, referrals, social media and direct approaches to individuals who may potentially be suitable.
Potential matches identified through headhunting are not automatically introduced to Clients. The Pair Project will speak with the individual and assess their potential suitability before progressing an introduction.
3. Matching Criteria and Preferences
Clients are asked about the qualities and characteristics that are important to them in a potential partner.
Some preferences may be identified by the Client as essential requirements, while others will be treated as preferences or general indicators.
Matchmaking is not an exact science and potential compatibility cannot be determined solely by comparing lists of criteria.
The Pair Project may therefore suggest somebody who does not meet every stated preference where we reasonably believe there are other areas of compatibility which make the potential introduction worth considering.
Clients are always free to decline a proposed match.
4. Introductions
Our standard private matchmaking membership is designed to provide four introductions, subject to the terms of the individual Membership Agreement.
For the purposes of our matchmaking service, an introduction counts towards the number included within a membership only when the two individuals have actually met in person for their arranged date.
The following do not, by themselves, count as an introduction:
Once both individuals have met in person, the introduction will count regardless of whether either person wishes to arrange a further date.
5. Timescales
The Pair Project prioritises suitability and compatibility over speed.
We do not guarantee that introductions will take place within a particular number of weeks or months.
The time required to identify appropriate potential matches will vary according to factors including a Client's preferences, location, age range, circumstances, availability and the availability and mutual interest of suitable potential matches.
We would rather take additional time to identify somebody we genuinely believe may be suitable than make an introduction simply to meet a timeframe.
6. Personalised Headhunting
Where appropriate, The Pair Project may actively search for potential matches outside its existing Client network.
Headhunting may include targeted advertising, networking, referrals, social media searches and direct approaches.
The fact that an individual has been identified or approached does not mean that they will necessarily be considered suitable for an introduction.
7. No Guarantee of Relationship Outcome
The Pair Project provides a professional matchmaking and introduction service but cannot guarantee romantic attraction, chemistry, compatibility or relationship success.
We cannot guarantee that:
Human relationships are inherently personal and subjective.
8. Fees and Membership
Full details of membership fees, payment options and services included will be provided to prospective Clients before they enter into a Membership Agreement.
The applicable price and payment arrangement will be confirmed in the Client's Membership Agreement.
Choosing a payment plan is a means of spreading the cost of a complete membership and does not create a monthly or pay-as-you-go matchmaking service.
9. Cancellation Rights
Clients entering into a Membership Agreement online, by telephone or otherwise at a distance may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days.
Full information about cancellation rights will be provided before the Client enters into their Membership Agreement.
Where a Client asks The Pair Project to begin providing services during the 14-day cancellation period and subsequently exercises a statutory right to
cancel, the Client may be required to pay for services properly supplied before cancellation where permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions or any Membership Agreement affects a Client's statutory consumer rights.
10. Client Responsibilities
Clients are expected to provide honest and accurate information and to keep relevant information reasonably up to date.
Clients are expected to communicate respectfully with The Pair Project and potential introductions and to respect the privacy and confidentiality of others.
Clients must not share another person's profile, photographs, telephone number, private messages or other personal information without permission.
Clients are also expected to disclose information which could reasonably be relevant to safeguarding or another person's decision about whether to meet them.
Full Client responsibilities are set out in the Membership Agreement.
11. Safeguarding
The Pair Project takes safeguarding seriously.
We reserve the right to delay, pause, withdraw or decline an introduction where we reasonably consider that a safeguarding concern requires further consideration.
Where appropriate, we may request further information before deciding whether an introduction or membership can proceed.
The Pair Project is a matchmaking service and is not a criminal-record checking, private investigation or comprehensive background-checking service.
Clients remain responsible for exercising their own judgment and taking sensible personal-safety precautions when communicating with and meeting another person.
12. Confidentiality and Privacy
The Pair Project operates a discreet and confidential service.
Personal information will only be used and shared where appropriate for providing our services, administering the business, meeting our legal obligations or for other purposes permitted by law.

13. Complaints
We want Clients to feel able to raise concerns with us.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of The Pair Project's service, please contact us in writing so that we have an opportunity to understand and address the issue.
Complaints will be considered fairly and within a reasonable timeframe.
14. Website Information
We take reasonable care to ensure that information published on our website is accurate and up to date.
However, website content is provided for general information and may be changed or updated from time to time.
Information on the website does not constitute a guarantee that any particular individual, type of match or outcome will be available.
15. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the content of The Pair Project website, including text, branding, graphics and original materials, belongs to The Pair Project or is used with permission.
Content must not be reproduced, copied or used for commercial purposes without prior permission.
16. Links to Other Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services.
The Pair Project is not responsible for the content, availability, privacy practices or operation of third-party websites.
17. Changes to These Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to our services, business practices or legal requirements.
The version published on our website will show the date on which it was last updated.
Changes to website Terms & Conditions will not retrospectively alter the terms of an existing Client's signed Membership Agreement.
18. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any mandatory consumer rights which apply to you.
